Images showing Jack Black as Minecraft character Steve have leaked online, giving the internet an early look at how the upcoming Warner Bros-backed Minecraft movie plans to stylise Mojang’s blocky world.

The designs, which reportedly first surfaced via notorious webforum 4chan, are now being pulled from social media platform X by copyright claims, Eurogamer has noticed. The takedowns all but confirm the images’ legitimacy.

Photos show a bearded Jack Black wearing Steve’s trademark blue shirt and jeans, holding a blocky pickaxe. Other images show a mossy-looking Creeper, cuboid bee and a rather cross-eyed pink sheep.

Genshin Impact has once again been accused of cultural appropriation from fans and voice actors in response to the reveal of its new cast of Natlan characters.
Every region in Genshin Impact draws heavy inspiration from real world countries and cultures, basing each region’s general design, mythology, and music on these various real-world areas. Inazuma is representative of Japan, Fontaine of France, Mondstadt of Germany and the Netherlands, and so on.
Based on its character and region names, established mythology, and glimpses of what the area looks like in trailers, the upcoming Natlan region looks set to take great inspiration from countries and cultures in both Africa and the Ring of Fire area surrounding the Pacific Ocean, which includes Latin America and Aboriginal Australian cultures. But fans say that this isn’t reflected in Natlan’s character designs, and now the game’s voice actors have joined in the criticism via social media.
“I really hope that a video game company listens to its fanbase when valid criticism is made multiple years in a row about the execution of its research and inclusion of elements/aspects of other cultures,” said Anne Yatco…

An unofficial Elden Ring lore book is on the way courtesy of a YouTuber expert.

Grace Given: The Mythology of Elden Ring will be a 500+ page book from Geoff “SmoughTown” Truscott, and will include beautiful artwork from fans of the game.

While not an official product – the description notes it’s not endorsed by FromSoftware or Bandai Namco – it’s certainly a lavishly created book. But, at £215.00, you’d expect it to be.

Nintendo’s Switch 2 won’t be hit by the same component shortages that blighted the launch of other recent consoles and led to months of product scarcity and scalping.

Speaking to investors this week, Nintendo said it had now “resolved” the issue which had seen it unable to manufacture enough Switch 1 hardware to meet demand in previous years. Both Sony, with PlayStation, and Microsoft, with Xbox, faced similar shortages for their own parts.

“That situation has now been resolved,” Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said of Switch 1 stock. “As for the
successor to Nintendo Switch, at present we do not think shortages of components will significantly affect production.”

Mubi, an art house streamer and distributor, has acquired the US cinema rights and the global streaming rights for a documentary made entirely in Grand Theft Auto Online, which has a Shakespearean twist.
This documentary is Grand Theft Hamlet, and tells the story of two unemployed actors who went about staging a performance of Shakespeare’s tragedy within GTA Online. It was directed by Pinny Grylls and Sam Crane.

“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy,” Hamlet says to Horatio in the play, and while he probably wasn’t chatting about video games, I feel this quote still fits here.
